Show Notes:

Dr. Jaquel Patterson is a nationally recognized naturopathic physician, Past President of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians, Founder of Naturalmins, Best-Selling Author, and Forbes contributor specializing in Lyme disease and other autoimmune disorders. While completing her naturopathic medical program she began having symptoms including chronic fatigue, migratory joint pain, insomnia, and excessive sweating. Visits to the university health clinic and three physicians produced no diagnosis and an opinion that anxiety was the cause. Later lab test results revealed a combination of Lyme disease and co-infections. Her personal experience explains Dr. Patterson’s passion for discovering and developing medical tools and strategies necessary to determine the correct diagnosis, along with a plan of action to help patients conquer Lyme disease.

A focus of Dr. Patterson’s interview with Bioenergetics Host Heather Gray is the challenge women with Lyme face, both in being diagnosed and finding a path to recovery. The disease manifests in women with a more complex and overlapping array of symptoms that defy proper diagnosis and invite an “it’s all in your head” or “it’s just anxiety … relax” response. The health and lifestyle-disrupting effects of Lyme are greatly compounded by a late diagnosis. All of this despite the fact that women are more likely to seek diagnosis earlier than men. She provides a wealth of diagnosis touch-points including low testosterone in men being a potential indicator of inflammation.
